박주호 작가는 밥을 그린다.
그의 밥은 생명 유지에 필요한 물질이 아니라 밥이 품은 온기이다. 이 온기를 작가는 어머니의 ‘말’ 에서 찾았다.
‘밥 먹어라’는 말의 온기에서 받은 ‘마음’을 찾기 위해 그는 무던히 많은 밥과 그릇을 캔버스에 담았고 그 마음을 비워내기 위해 형상을 없앴다. 마음을 만나기 위해 비우고 채우기를 반복할 수록 마음은 더 어지러이 흩어졌다. 허공에 떠 있는 듯 허한 기운을 다잡기 위해 작가 박주호는 처음으로 돌아가 밥을 그린다.
The artist Park Ju-ho paints rice.
His rice is not the material necessary for sustaining life but rather the warmth embraced by the rice. To find the 'heart' received from the warmth of the phrase 'Eat your rice,' spoken by his mother, he filled countless canvases with rice and bowls. In order to empty out that heart, he eliminated the form.
The more he repeated the process of emptying and filling to encounter the heart, the more the heart scattered in confusion. To grasp the empty, faint energy floating in the air, artist Park Joo-ho returns to the beginning and paints rice once again.
